Hunterdon County Commissioner Kuhl attends annual pancake breakfast to promote Stigma-Free community initiatives
HUNTERDON COUNTY, NJ – Hunterdon County Commissioner Jeff Kuhl, along with County Administrator Brad Myhre, recently attended the Hunterdon County Stigma-Free Task Force Annual Pancake Breakfast, a family-friendly event featuring winter-themed activities and an opportunity to learn about local agencies dedicated to ending the stigma surrounding substance use and behavioral health.
Held on Saturday, January 11, at the Route 12 County Complex, the event brought together community members of all ages to enjoy a delicious pancake breakfast, participate in fun winter activities, and engage with local organizations committed to promoting mental health and substance use awareness.
Commissioner Kuhl emphasized the importance of creating a supportive and understanding environment for those affected by substance use and behavioral health issues.
“This event is a great opportunity for our community to come together and learn about the valuable resources available to those struggling with substance use and mental health challenges. As a Board, we are committed to fostering a stigma-free environment where everyone feels supported and understood,” Kuhl said.
Kuhl also highlighted the Board of Commissioners’ Stigma-Free Initiative, which was launched in 2023. “In 2023, I led an effort with our municipal leaders to end stigma in our county, and I am proud that all municipalities in Hunterdon County have passed resolutions to become stigma-free. This collective effort shows our dedication to promoting mental health and substance use awareness, ensuring that no one feels isolated or judged because of their struggles.”
The Hunterdon County Stigma-Free Task Force works to raise awareness and provide resources to individuals and families affected by substance use and behavioral health issues. The annual pancake breakfast serves as an important platform to highlight ongoing efforts to break down the barriers of stigma and promote a culture of compassion and acceptance.
