Hunterdon County Commissioners announce Ryan Preston will serve as the new division head of parks and recreation
HUNTERDON COUNTY, NJ – The Hunterdon County Board of Commissioners has announced the promotion of Ryan Preston to Division Head of Parks and Recreation.
Preston has been an integral part of the Parks and Recreation Department since his hiring in 2020, and he will now lead the division in its mission to provide safe and enjoyable parks with diverse recreation opportunities for the community.
“This Board congratulates Mr. Preston on his well deserved promotion to Division Head for Parks and Recreation. Our parks have been instrumental in making Hunterdon County a great place to live, work, and play. We look forward to seeing the continued positive impact of his leadership,” Commissioner Director Jeff Kuhl said.
Preston was hired as a Mason and Senior Carpenter in the Division of Building and Maintenance in 2020 and was promoted to General Supervisor of Parks in 2023. He completed the Rutgers Certified Public Manager Program in the summer of 2024, and Ryan is held in high regard by his peers and department heads for his quick response to concerns and his proactive problem-solving skills.
In his new role, Preston will oversee the management of over 9,000 acres of parkland, ensuring the preservation of natural resources and the provision of high-quality recreational facilities and programs. He will also work closely with community partners and volunteers to expand and enhance the county’s recreational offerings.
“I am honored to take on this new role and continue serving the residents of Hunterdon County,” Preston said. “I am committed to building on our current successes and exploring new ways to further enhance parks and recreation opportunities among our various properties.”
