Hunterdon County Commissioners attend annual Community Day

RINGOES, NJ (Hunterdon County) – Commissioner Director Zach Rich, and Commissioner John Lanza attended Hunterdon County’s 8th Annual Community Day on June 10th, at South County Park Hunterdon County Fairgrounds, in Ringoes.

It was a great celebration that highlighted many of the resources that are readily available to towns, organizations, non-profits, and businesses within the community.

“We would like to thank the Hunterdon County Chamber of Commerce and their members for all the extensive planning and hard work that went into making Community Day such a big success. This annual gathering of local businesses and civic groups, is a fantastic way to showcase the many independent businesses and their resources that are readily available throughout the county,” Rich said.

New this year, was “Touch A Truck,” featuring an array of vehicles to discover, learn, and explore. Back by popular demand, Michael Shwedick’s, “Reptile World” held three live reptile shows throughout the afternoon. Additionally, there were numerous vendors, local organizations, food, music, and live entertainment.

One of the main attractions at Community Day, was the Child Identification Program, sponsored by the Hunterdon County Sheriff’s office. This ID program is a community-based service plan that provides parents and guardians with their child’s fingerprint, color photograph, and personal information. In the event of an emergency, this card can be used to assist law enforcement personnel in the recovery of a lost child.

Commissioner John Lanza, who also serves as the liaison to the Sheriff’s Office said, “The Child Identification Program is mandated by law to be offered in every community. Our Sheriff’s Department does an amazing job of getting the word out about the benefits of this program. Over 65 children registered with the County ID program at Community Day, and I consider this a remarkable success.”

Since 2014, The Hunterdon County Chamber of Commerce and the County of Hunterdon have been hosting this fun-filled event that celebrates everything Hunterdon. From local businesses to non-profit organizations throughout all municipalities, there is always a lot to see and do during this celebration that attracts over 4,000 attendees.
