Hunterdon County Commissioners honor local teacher for award of excellence in elementary science education
HUNTERDON COUNTY, NJ – Hunterdon County Commissioners recently honored Julianne Romanella with a proclamation in recognition of her outstanding contributions to elementary science education.
Romanella, a science teacher at Alexandria Elementary School, was recently awarded the prestigious New Jersey Science Convention 2024 Anton Banko Award for Excellence in Teaching Elementary Science.
“On behalf of the Board I would like to congratulate Ms. Romanella on being the recipient of this impressive award. Her innovative teaching methods and commitment to engage students in the field of science have set a high standard for educators in our community. We are proud to recognize her this evening,” Commissioner Director Jeff Kuhl said.
The Anton Banko Award, named after the renowned engineer who co-invented small incision cataract surgery, celebrates educators who inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers. The Banko Award covers expenses to attend the New Jersey Science Convention and $2000.00 to purchase science supplies at the teacher’s discretion.
“Ms. Romanella is to be commended as a devoted teacher and role model to both her students and colleagues through the use of hands-on learning and engaging lessons. Hunterdon County is fortunate to have some of the best public educators in the state and nation,” Kuhl said.
