Hunterdon County hosts third Municipal Shared Services Forum
“New Era Leadership In Action: Commissioners Engage Municipalities In Impactful Discussions”
FLEMINGTON, NJ (Hunterdon County)— On Saturday, May 3rd, Commissioner Director John E. Lanza and Deputy Director Shaun C. Van Doren hosted Hunterdon County’s third Municipal Shared Services Forum.
The event brought together county and local leaders to explore innovative solutions that benefit residents and to highlight existing resources available through the county government.
Held in the Commissioners Meeting Room at the County Administration Building, the forum featured presentations from several county departments. The Economic Development and Tourism Department, the Department of Human Services, and County Administrator Brad Myhre each provided updates, including an overview of current regulations regarding food trucks operating within municipalities.
“These series of Shared Services Forums are a crucial platform for fostering collaboration among our municipal leaders,” said Deputy Director Van Doren. “These forums provide a valuable insight into the workings of county government, including existing programs and resources available to assist local officials and their constituents.”
Director Lanza echoed that sentiment, stating, “Creating opportunities for open discussions and networking leads to tangible improvements in the services we provide for residents. The success of this forum series speaks to the commitment of our municipal partners to delivering good government to their residents.”
A highlight of the forum was a presentation by Marc Saluk, Director of the Economic Development and Tourism Department. Saluk emphasized the success of the Explore Hunterdon initiative in showcasing the county’s attractions, supporting local businesses, and fostering community spirit. He credited the program’s achievements to strong partnerships between county leaders and local businesses.
Susan Nekola, Department Head for Human Services, also provided an update on her department’s offerings. She outlined key programs including senior and disability support, housing assistance, and veteran outreach services. Nekola encouraged volunteers “who are handy” to sign up for the popular “Mr. Fixit” program, which helps senior residents with essential home maintenance and repairs.
The Hunterdon County Board of Commissioners plans to continue these Shared Services Forums in the fall as part of its ongoing effort to strengthen partnerships with municipal leaders.
