Hunterdon County OEM Coordinator Brayden Fahey provides update to local mayors on drone activity
HUNTERDON COUNTY, NJ – Hunterdon County’s Public Safety Director and Office of Emergency Management (OEM) Coordinator, Brayden Fahey, recently provided updated information on recent drone sightings across the county to local mayors and OEM personnel, as part of a briefing arranged by Commissioner Director Jeff Kuhl.
Following the update, Commissioner Director Kuhl reassured residents: “As part of our standard practice in preparing for, responding to, and recovering from any emergency or disaster in Hunterdon County, we have implemented a Whole of Government model. Under the coordination of our Department of Public Safety, county leaders are working closely with local law enforcement, emergency management, and elected officials to ensure a coordinated approach in sharing factual and timely information with our constituents.”
Hunterdon County has been diligently tracking each drone sighting report, forwarding any involving critical infrastructure to the FBI. In response to increased drone activity, the Hunterdon County Sheriff’s Office will also be adding additional patrol units to monitor areas near critical infrastructure.
Since the first report of drone sightings on November 21, the Hunterdon County 911 Communication Center has been receiving a high volume of calls regarding drone activity. As of December 15, 266 calls have been processed related to drone sightings. The Department of Public Safety is urging the public to reserve the 911 system for emergencies only.
Residents are encouraged to report any drone sightings to the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324) or the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security at 1-866-4-SAFE-NJ (1-866-472-3365).
