Hunterdon County Senior Center to host workshop on protecting against holiday scams

FLEMINGTON, NJ (Hunterdon County) – Hunterdon County Commissioner Shaun C. Van Doren, liaison to the Department of Human Services, recently announced that the Senior Center will host a program titled Holiday Shield: Senior Safety and Security Workshop on November 19th from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. The event will take place at the Senior Center, located at 6 Gauntt Place in Flemington.

Commissioner Van Doren stated, “The holiday months can bring increased risks for seniors, such as scams or the potential for violent attacks. This workshop will cover essential strategies to help seniors avoid becoming victims of fraud, physical harm, or theft, ensuring they can enjoy the festivities safely.”

The workshop will cover topics such as recognizing and avoiding holiday scams, safety tips for shopping and traveling, and maintaining personal security in public spaces. The goal is to equip seniors with the knowledge and tools they need to stay safe and enjoy the holiday season without fear.

The Senior Center has partnered with the K Street Group K9 and Tactical Training Academy to offer this workshop. Space is limited, and seniors are encouraged to pre-register by calling 908-788-1359.
