Whitehouse Rescue Squad adds sensory bags to ambulances to assist patients

READINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — Whitehouse Rescue Squad has added sensory bags to all of its ambulances to help first responders better assist patients with autism and others who may have sensory or communication needs.

Each bag contains several tools intended to help make interactions and emergency situations less stressful for patients, including noise-reducing headphones, sunglasses, fidget and sensory items, communication cards and a whiteboard.

The items can be particularly helpful for people with autism or other sensory and communication needs but may also benefit a wide range of patients, according to Whitehouse Rescue.
