I-78 westbound Exit 3 ramp lane closure scheduled in Warren County for resurfacing project

GREENWICH TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Warren County) — A single lane on the Interstate 78 westbound Exit 3 ramp to Route 22 westbound will be closed next week as part of an ongoing resurfacing and intersection improvement project in Warren County, the New Jersey Department of Transportation announced.

The closure is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Monday, Aug. 11, and continue until 6 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13. The left lane of the ramp will be closed, but at least one lane will remain open. The lane restriction is necessary to allow crews to complete milling and paving work. Motorists should slow down, use caution and expect delays in the work zone.

The work is part of the $10 million Route 22 Broad Street-to-I-78 resurfacing and intersection improvement project, which will repave about five miles of Route 22 eastbound from Miller Street in Phillipsburg to the I-78 interchange. It also includes resurfacing the ramps to and from I-78 and upgrading traffic signals at seven intersections:

  1. Route 22 and New Brunswick Avenue
  2. Route 22 and Greenwich Street
  3. Route 22 and St. James Avenue/Uniontown Road/CR 519
  4. Route 22 and Phillipsburg Mall
  5. Route 22 and 1st Street
  6. Route 22 and Roseberry Street
  7. Route 22 and Ingersoll Avenue/Bates Street

Portable variable message signs are in place to alert drivers of traffic pattern changes. The work schedule is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists can check www.511nj.org for real-time travel information.
