I-80 westbound overnight lane closures this week to reopen all lanes Saturday in Wharton Borough, 11 days ahead of schedule
A full westbound closure and detour are scheduled for Friday night, June 13
WHARTON BOROUGH, N.J. (Morris County) — All three lanes of Interstate 80 westbound in Wharton Borough, are expected to reopen Saturday —11 days ahead of schedule, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT).
The center and right lanes reopened on May 30. To reopen the left lane and fully restore westbound traffic flow, one of the currently open lanes will be closed overnight this week.
Beginning at 10 p.m. Monday, June 9, until 6 a.m. Tuesday, June 10, and continuing during the same hours on Tuesday, June 10; Wednesday, June 11; and Thursday, June 12, one westbound lane will be closed before Exit 34B (Jefferson/Sparta). At least one lane will remain open overnight. The closures are necessary to remove construction barriers and repave the left lane and part of the median.
A full westbound closure and detour are scheduled for Friday night, June 13, for final paving and restriping. All lanes are expected to reopen by Saturday, June 14, weather permitting. NJDOT will issue an advisory in advance of the full closure.
The speed limit through the westbound work zone remains 45 mph. NJDOT reminds motorists to slow down and use caution in the active work zone.
