Infant dies after being left in parked car in Morris County
EAST HANVOER TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – An infant died after being left in a parked car in East Hanover township, according to Morris County Prosecutor Robert Carroll.
On July 17, at around 1:30 p.m., officers responded to a parking lot in the area of South Ridgedale Avenue at Route 10 for a 911 call of a pediatric patient in a parked vehicle, Carroll said.
Paramedics attempted to render lifesaving aid to a six-month-old girl and she was subsequently pronounced dead at the hospital, Carroll said.
The victim’s mother was transported to an area hospital for treatment, Carroll said.
“At this time, preliminary information indicates the child was left unattended in the vehicle prior to death. A final determination as to the cause and manner of the child’s death remains pending,” Carroll said.
“As this incident remains under investigation, no further comment will be made at this time,” Carroll said.
A thorough investigation is underway by the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, East Hanover Police Department, and Morris County Sheriff’s Office.
