Kean joins business leaders in Somerville to discuss pro-growth tax provisions
SOMERVILLE, N.J. (Somerset County) — U.S. Rep. Tom Kean Jr. (R-NJ) joined the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Somerset County Business Partnership on Thursday, Aug. 7, for a roundtable with local business leaders focused on pro-growth tax provisions in the recently signed reconciliation bill.
The legislation, signed into law on July 4, includes provisions aimed at preserving America’s economic competitiveness, supporting small businesses and creating new opportunities for workers.
“By working to restore key provisions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and advancing much-needed SALT relief, I am delivering real results for New Jersey families and supporting the small businesses that drive our local economy,” Kean said. “Lowering the tax burden, streamlining regulations, and expanding access to capital are essential to building a stronger, more competitive economic future for all of our communities.”
Stephen McAllister, vice president of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Eastern Region, credited Kean’s support of the bill — referred to by the Chamber as the “One Big Beautiful Bill” — with helping to prevent “the largest tax increase in history” and preserving the 20% pass-through deduction for more than 96,000 taxpayers in New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District.
Chris Edwards, president and CEO of the Somerset County Business Partnership, called the event “the perfect opportunity for business leaders to have a literal seat at the table” with Kean to discuss the legislation’s local impacts and future growth opportunities in Somerset County.
The Chamber’s tax roundtables are part of its Growing America’s Future campaign, an effort to promote a pro-growth tax code and a robust U.S. economy.
