Lake Hopatcong man seriously injured in crash on I-287 in Somerset County

BRIDGEWATER TOWNSHIP, NJ (Somerset County) – A Lake Hopatcong man was seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash on I-287 in Somerset County on Friday, according to New Jersey State Police spokesperson Sergeant Jeffrey Lebron.

The crash occurred around 5:18 p.m. on I-287 northbound at milepost 19.6 in Bridgewater Township, Lebron said.

A preliminary police investigation revealed that a Ford pickup truck, driven by Richard Brenner, 66, was traveling northbound in the I-287 express lane when the vehicle veered off the roadway to the right, struck the guardrail, and then crossed into the local lanes, impacting the guardrail, Lebron said.

As a result of the crash, Brenner sustained serious injuries, Lebron stated.

The crash remains under investigation.
