Lane closures scheduled for I-78 toll bridge’s Express E-ZPass facility, March 13-17
The following travel restrictions are scheduled for the I-78 Toll Bridge’s two-lane Express E-ZPass facility, beginning Thursday night, March 13, and ending early Monday, March 17:
- 7 p.m. Thursday, March 13, to 5 a.m. Friday, March 14 – Both I-78 westbound Express E-ZPass lanes will be closed for concrete saw-cutting work in one lane.
- 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, March 14 – The one Express E-ZPass lane that does not undergo saw-cutting will temporarily reopen to handle daytime I-78 westbound traffic.
- 9 p.m. Friday, March 14, to 5 a.m. Monday, March 17 – Both I-78 westbound Express E-ZPass lanes will be closed for the pouring, leveling, and curing of new concrete slabs.
These travel restrictions will allow a contractor to replace a portion of the highway-speed toll-collection facility’s concrete pavement. The facility, located in Williams Township, PA, handles I-78 westbound traffic crossing the toll bridge from New Jersey into Pennsylvania.
When the Express E-ZPass lanes are closed, motorists are advised to use the former cash-collection lanes at the nearby four-lane barrier toll plaza. As the Commission no longer handles cash toll transactions, any backups or delays are expected to be minimal when the two Express E-ZPass lanes are closed.
Motorists are urged to reduce speeds and exercise caution when traveling through active work zones. Travel restrictions are subject to change due to weather, emergencies, or other factors.
