Long time Hunterdon County employees honored by commissioners upon retirement

HUNTERDON COUNTY, NJ – The Hunterdon County Commissioners recently issued two formal proclamations and extended a special congratulations to Pia Rey Doklan, of Human Services and William Powell, from the Department of Public Safety, upon their upcoming retirement.

Rey Doklan began her career with the County in 1993, and during her tenure of employment with the Department of Human Services, she has managed the State Health Insurance Plan program, facilitated the Senior Art Show program, run the Farmers Market Distribution program, as well as served as a Union Steward, the Employee Appreciation Committee, and the Orlie Pell Board.

Deputy Director, and liaison to the Department of Human Services, Jeff Kuhl said, “Ms. Rey Doklan has been an integral part of the Human Services Department. I have only every heard praise and positive remarks for the work she has done. The Board would like to thank her for her dedication and service over the last 30 years and wishes her all the best in a well-deserved retirement. She will be missed.”

Powell was also recognized at the recent meeting for his 25 years of service as a telecommunications supervisor with the Department of Public Safety. He was honored for his commitment and devotion throughout the course of his career, and recognized for his role as a mentor, friend, and consummate public servant.

Commissioner John Lanza, who also serves as the liaison to the Department of Public Safety said, “I want to thank Mr. Powell and recognize him for his dedication and outstanding service. Undoubtedly, he has assisted in saving many lives over the course of his lengthy career with the County. His unwavering commitment and service to residents and individuals, will have a lasting legacy. We wish him all the best in his retirement.”

Born and raised in Northwest NJ, Jay has a degree in Communications and has had a life-long interest in local radio and various styles of music. Jay has held numerous jobs over the years such as stunt car driver, bartender, voice-over artist, traffic reporter (award winning), NY Yankee maintenance crewmember and peanut farm worker. His hobbies include mountain climbing, snowmobiling, cooking, performing stand-up comedy and he is an avid squirrel watcher. Jay has been a guest on America’s Morning Headquarters,program on The Weather Channel, and was interviewed by Sam Champion.
