UPDATE: Authorities identify victim in apparent drowning at Cedar Lake Beach in Morris County

DENVILLE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A 33-year-old died Sunday after being pulled unresponsive from the water at Cedar Lake Beach, according to the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.

Emergency medical services and fire crews responded around 5:50 p.m. on July 13 to a report of a possible drowning. Other swimmers had noticed the victim unresponsive in the water and called 911, said Meghan Knab, public information officer for the Prosecutor’s Office.

The victim, whose identity was not released, was transported to a nearby hospital and was pronounced dead. A post-mortem examination will be conducted by the Morris County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Authorities said no foul play is suspected at this time. The incident remains under investigation by the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office and the Denville Police Department.
