Man accused of brandishing imitation firearm during road rage incident in Sussex County

FRANKLIN BOROUGH, NJ (Sussex County) – A Sussex County man is accused of brandishing an imitation firearm during road a rage incident in Franklin Borough last month.

On Aug. 16, police responded to a report of a road rage incident involving the display of a firearm. Following the incident, the suspect, who was identified as David Daneri, 18, of Franklin Borough, fled the scene, police said.

Officers, with assistance from the Hamburg Borough Police and Sussex County Sheriff’s Office, conducted an initial search for Daneri and he was located a few minutes later, still in possession of what was later determined to be an imitation firearm, officials said.

Daneri was charged with fourth-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose (imitation firearm), disorderly conduct, harassment, and simple assault (via physical menace). He was then released pending a court appearance, police said.
