Man accused of sleeping overnight, masturbating inside Somerset County laundromat

RARITAN BOROUGH, N.J. (Somerset County) — A 40-year-old man was arrested earlier this month after police said he unlawfully remained overnight inside a Raritan Borough business and engaged in inappropriate behavior.

According to the Raritan Borough Police Department, officers took a report on Dec. 9, from the owner of Raritan’s Own Laundromat on West Somerset Street. The owner reported that a man had slept inside the business overnight without permission.

The owner further reported that the man was seen masturbating while seated in a common area of the laundromat during the overnight hours, police said.

Officers reviewed surveillance footage and identified the man as James Gunter, 40, who has no known address, police said.

Gunter was later located and arrested on a charge of trespassing. He was lodged in the Somerset County Jail pending further proceedings.
