Man arrested after multiple alleged shoplifting incidents at Sussex County ShopRite

FRANKLIN BOROUGH, N.J. (Sussex County) — A 38-year-old Franklin man was arrested after allegedly shoplifting from the Franklin Borough ShopRite on multiple occasions over the past month, according to police.

Police said Jason B. Mohl was taken into custody on October 18, 2025, following a complaint made by ShopRite loss prevention agents who reported that he had fled the property after an alleged theft.

Mohl was located a short time later at the nearby Weis Markets, where he was apprehended without incident, police said.

An investigation determined that Mohl allegedly removed consumable merchandise from ShopRite without paying in full at the self-checkout on at least five occasions between September 20 and October 17, 2025.

Following the investigation, Mohl was charged with shoplifting, a disorderly persons offense, and issued a borough ordinance violation related to the alleged conduct.

He was released on a complaint summons pending a court appearance in Franklin Borough Municipal Court, in accordance with the New Jersey Bail Reform Act.
