I-287 southbound right lane and shoulder to be closed Tuesday in Harding Township

Shoulder to remain closed for approximately one month

HARDING TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – The right lane and shoulder on I-287 southbound, near the Glen Alpin Road/Temple Wick Road overpass, are scheduled to be closed Tuesday, February 4 to replace a drainage pipe in Harding Township.

From 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 4, the right lane and shoulder on I-287 southbound are scheduled to be closed just before the Glen Alpin Road/Temple Wick Road overpass, at milepost 32.5. At least two lanes will be maintained. The closures are necessary to place construction barrier and create a work zone in the right shoulder.

By 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 4, the right lane will be reopened, and the right shoulder will remain closed on I-287 southbound. The shoulder is expected to remain closed for approximately one month to replace a deteriorated drainage pipe and repair a sinkhole starting to form in the shoulder. Motorists are advised to slow down, use caution, and expect delays or plan an alternate route.

This work is part of an $18.2 million state-funded project which will repair critical infrastructure assets in various locations across Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris, Passaic, Sussex, Union, and Warren counties.

The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website for construction updates and real-time travel information.
