MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A New York man is accused of attempting to open a bank account using a fraudulent New Jersey driver’s license at a TD Bank in Mount Olive Township.
On March 27, at 2:00 p.m., police responded to a report from TD Bank, located at 56 Flanders Bartley Road, Flanders, where a man was trying to open an account using a fake driver’s license, authorities said.
Police arrived at the bank and made contact with the suspect, later identified as Marcus Goncalves, 59, of Brooklyn, NY, authorities said.
The investigation revealed that Goncalves had been using a counterfeit NJ driver’s license to open an account in another individual’s name, police said.
Goncalves was arrested and charged with identity theft, possession of false government documents, and knowingly presenting a false government-issued ID. He was subsequently lodged in the Morris County Correctional Facility on an unrelated warrant and is awaiting a court appearance, police said.
