Man arrested for DUI after allegedly driving on sidewalk, crashing into parked car

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) – A Warren County man was arrested for DUI after allegedly driving on the sidewalk and crashing into a parked car in Hackettstown.

On June 2, at around 5:02 p.m., police responded to Main Street near West Plane Street for a report of an erratic vehicle driving on the sidewalk and then crashing into a parked vehicle, police said.

When officers arrived on scene, police observed the driver of the vehicle outside of his car, officials said.

Through an investigation it was determined that Bipen Patel, 67, of Independence Township was operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, police said.

Patel was charged with driving under the influence and reckless driving. He was released pending a court appearance, police said.
