Man charged after alleged bottle assault in Morris County

MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A Budd Lake man was arrested after allegedly striking another man with a glass bottle during an assault early July 26 in Mount Olive Township, according to police.

Police said officers responded to a Budd Lake residence at approximately 1:03 a.m. for a report of an assault.

The victim told officers he had been struck with a glass bottle by a man outside his residence.

When officers arrived, they observed a man matching the suspect’s description walking away from the area. Following a brief struggle, police arrested Cristian A. Rodriquezgonzalez, 44, of Budd Lake.

According to police, the investigation determined Rodriquezgonzalez struck the victim with a glass bottle, causing it to break.

Rodriquezgonzalez was transported to police headquarters and charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon.

He was lodged in the Morris County Correctional Facility pending a court hearing.
