Man charged after allegedly striking pedestrian with pickup truck during verbal altercation in Hunterdon County
GLEN GARDNER BOROUGH, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — A Glen Gardner man was charged after allegedly striking a pedestrian with a pickup truck and pinning the person against a parked vehicle Monday, according to New Jersey State Police.
Troopers responded to reports of a pedestrian being struck at a residence on Main Street in Glen Gardner Borough, according to State Police spokesman Trooper II Christopher Postorino.
A preliminary investigation found that Andrew P. Brown, 43, of Glen Gardner, was parked in a Chevrolet pickup truck when a verbal altercation occurred between him and a pedestrian outside the vehicle, Postorino said.
During the altercation, Brown allegedly accelerated forward, striking the pedestrian and pinning the person between the pickup truck and a parked, unoccupied Chevrolet SUV.
The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
During the investigation, troopers determined that Brown was intoxicated, and he was arrested for driving under the influence, according to State Police.
Brown was charged with third-degree assault by auto, third-degree terroristic threats, driving under the influence and other motor vehicle offenses.
He was lodged in the Warren County Correctional Center pending a detention hearing.
The incident remains under investigation, and no additional information is available.
