
Tractor-trailer hauling cows overturns on I-80 in Morris County; driver hospitalized, 38 cows rescued
MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A tractor-trailer hauling livestock overturned early Thursday morning on Interstate 80 East in Morris County, prompting an emergency response and the safe transfer of dozens of cows, according to the New Jersey State Police.
Troopers responded to the scene of the crash at approximately 2:39 a.m. at milepost 23.6 in Mount Olive Township, State Police spokesperson Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron said.
A preliminary investigation indicates the tractor-trailer lost directional control and overturned. The driver suffered minor injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Authorities said all 38 cows aboard the trailer were safely transferred and transported from the crash site. No injuries to the animals were reported.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and no additional details were immediately available.
