Man charged after traffic stop in Morris County reveals altered plates used to avoid tolls

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A 35-year-old man from Linden was charged after police discovered altered license plates during a traffic stop on East Mill Road, authorities said.

According to Washington Township police, officers stopped the vehicle for an equipment violation when they determined the driver had allegedly modified the license plates to avoid paying tolls.

The man, whose name was not released, was charged with obstruction, possession of burglar tools, and several motor vehicle offenses.

He was released pending a court appearance in Washington Township Municipal Court.
