Readington installs new LED crosswalk signs to boost pedestrian safety

READINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — Readington Township officials announced the installation of new LED, pedestrian-activated crosswalk signs across key locations on Main Street as part of Pedestrian Safety Awareness Month.

The high-visibility signs are designed to alert drivers when pedestrians are crossing, enhancing safety for residents and visitors. The project was funded through a grant from the Hunterdon County Commissioners and installed by the Readington Township Department of Public Works.

The new crosswalk signs have been placed at the following locations:

  • Main Street at Nelson Street
  • Main Street at Whitehouse Avenue
  • Main Street at NJ Transit Train Station
  • Main Street at Kline Boulevard
  • Main Street at Pulaski Road
  • Main Street at Three Bridges School
  • Main Street at Grove Street (Three Bridges)

Township officials thanked the Department of Public Works for completing the installation and expressed appreciation to the Hunterdon County Commissioners for their support in funding the safety upgrades.

The improvements come as communities statewide observe Pedestrian Safety Awareness Month, which highlights efforts to reduce traffic-related injuries and fatalities among pedestrians.
