Man charged in Morris County armed robbery
DOVER, N.J. (Morris County) — Dwayne A. Brown, 27, of Wharton Borough, has been charged with armed robbery in connection with a June 28 incident at a deli on Richards Avenue in Dover, authorities announced.
At approximately 11 a.m. on June 28, police responded to reports of an armed robbery. According to officials, a masked man entered the deli, grabbed a customer’s arm while pointing a handgun at him, then demanded money from two employees behind the register. The employees handed over $360 before the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle.
Following an investigation, Brown was taken into custody on June 29 and charged with three counts of robbery, first-degree crimes; one count each of unlawful possession of a handgun and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, both second-degree crimes; and three counts of aggravated assault, fourth-degree crimes.
Brown remains detained at the Morris County Correctional Facility pending a detention hearing scheduled for July 3.
Morris County Prosecutor Robert Carroll credited Dover Police, Wharton Police, the Morris County Sheriff’s Office, and multiple prosecutor’s office divisions for their cooperation in the swift arrest.
“The public should be assured that crimes of violence will be met with a coordinated, persistent, and effective police response until resolution,” Carroll said.
