Man charged in Warren County stabbing
PHILLIPSBURG, NJ (Warren County) – A man has been arrested and charged for a stabbing that occurred in Phillipsburg earlier this month, the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office said.
On Friday, February 7, at around 3:00 p.m., police responded to 360 South Main Street after receiving a report of a male who had been stabbed, authorities said.
During the investigation, Jermaine A. Davis, 45, of Washington, was identified as the suspect. It was also determined that Davis and the victim knew each other, and a verbal altercation between the two led to the physical assault, officials said.
The victim was transported by ambulance to St. Luke’s Anderson campus for medical treatment. The cutting instrument used in the assault has not been identified, the prosecutor’s office said.
On Saturday, February 8, at around 1:00 p.m., Davis was located by the Phillipsburg Police Department and arrested. He was charged with third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and third-degree aggravated assault. Davis was subsequently lodged in the Warren County Correctional Center.
Third-degree crimes carry a maximum sentence of 5 years in New Jersey State Prison.
The Warren County Prosecutor’s Office and the New Jersey State Police K9 Unit assisted the Phillipsburg Police Department with the investigation.
