Man charged with DWI after found unresponsive in vehicle in Hunterdon County

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — A 56-year-old Pennsylvania man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after police responded to a report of an unresponsive driver in a parked vehicle in Clinton Township, authorities said on Monday.

Clinton Township police responded Dec. 24 to a report of an unconscious man inside a Dodge Ram pickup truck parked in the lot of a local bank. Officers found the driver, identified as Paul A. Villano of Portland, Pennsylvania, slumped over in the driver’s seat and made contact with him to assess his condition, police said.

Officers reported that Villano exhibited signs of intoxication and attempted to administer standardized field sobriety tests. Police said the tests were not completed as directed, and Villano was taken into custody. His vehicle was impounded.

Villano was transported to police headquarters, where he consented to a breath test. The results showed his blood alcohol concentration exceeded the legal limit, authorities said.

He was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, possession of an open, unsealed alcoholic beverage container and consumption of alcoholic beverages in a motor vehicle. Villano was later transported to the Hunterdon County Jail.
