NEWTON, N.J. (Sussex County) — Project Self-Sufficiency will host its first-ever Polo Classic on Saturday, Sept. 13, at Grayfields Polo Club in Allamuchy Township, with proceeds benefiting programs and services for low-income families in Northwest New Jersey.

“We are excited to be partnering with NJ Polo to raise funds for the programs and services which are essential for struggling families in our area,” said Deborah Berry-Toon, executive director of Project Self-Sufficiency. “The Project Self-Sufficiency Polo Classic invites people of all ages to come together in a fun and relaxing environment, enjoy a tailgate and time outdoors, and support local families in need.”

The event begins at noon. VIP Tent ticketholders will enjoy hors d’oeuvres, fine cuisine and signature drinks catered by Andre’s Lakeside Dining. Tailgaters will welcome guests to decorated spaces, while general admission attendees set up their own viewing areas.

Entertainment will include performances by the Sussex Brass Quintet and The Pro Tempos in the VIP Tent. Halftime will feature the polo tradition of divot stomping, along with contests for best hat and best tailgate. Spectators can also participate in a silent auction, while honors will be awarded for the match MVP and Best Playing Polo.

Following the match, guests are invited onto the field for an after-party with live music by the Mike Lawlor Band.

Mercedes-Benz of Newton is the presenting sponsor and will showcase several models at the event. Additional sponsors include First Hope Bank, Lakeside Construction, Franklin Mutual Insurance, Provident Bank, and several local families and businesses.
