Man charged with DWI, open container in Mount Olive Twp

MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A Sussex County man is facing several charges including driving while intoxicated in Mount Olive Township.

On July 31, at 9:18 a.m., a township officer responded to River Road for a report of a vehicle stopped on the roadway, and blocking traffic.

The officer arrived on scene and came in contact with the driver, who was identified as Craig E. Norwich, 55, of Newton and he allegedly exhibited obvious signs of impairment due to alcohol consumption, police said.

Norwich was asked to exit the vehicle to perform standardized field sobriety tests and upon completion of the investigation he was arrested, police said.

Norwich was charged with driving while under the influence, obstructing passage, reckless driving, failure to maintain a lane, open alcoholic beverage container, and consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle.

Norwich was released to a sober driver pending a court appearance.
