Man charged with DWI, reckless driving in Sussex County

BYRAM TOWNSHIP, NJ (Sussex County) – A Sussex County man is facing several charges including driving while intoxicated and reckless driving in Byram Township, according to police.

On October 21, an officer observed a vehicle traveling on Route 206 fail to maintain its lane and fail to keep right. The officer then stopped the vehicle and while speaking to the driver, who was identified as Nuno Santos of Fredon Township, the officer felt Santos may be intoxicated, police said.

Santos performed several field sobriety tests, which he failed. He was arrested and transported to the police station where he consented to and failed two breath tests, police said.

Santos was charged with driving while intoxicated, disregard of marked lanes, failure to keep right, careless driving and reckless driving. He was then released to a family member pending a court appearance, police said.
