Man seriously injured after car strikes pole, guardrail on Route 57 in Warren County

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Warren County) — A Phillipsburg man was seriously injured early Saturday when his car veered off Route 57 and struck both a utility pole and the end of a guardrail, according to the New Jersey State Police.

Troopers responded to the crash around 5:25 a.m. at milepost 5.8 on Route 57 westbound in Franklin Township, Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron said.

A preliminary investigation found that a Toyota sedan, driven by Andrew Bunucci, 29, was traveling west when it left the roadway to the right and collided with the pole and guardrail.

Bunucci sustained serious injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital, Lebron said.

The crash remains under investigation, and no additional information was available.
