Man sought on shoplifting charge after theft at Morris County liquor store
MOUNTAIN LAKES BOROUGH, N.J. (Morris County) — A 36-year-old Paterson man is wanted on a shoplifting charge after police said he stole more than $600 worth of liquor from a Mountain Lakes liquor store earlier this month.
Mountain Lakes police said officers were dispatched at about 3:43 p.m. Jan. 4 to El Dorado Wine House on Route 46 East following a report of shoplifting totaling approximately $636.
An investigation determined that a man entered the store and asked to view three high-end bottles of tequila, which a store clerk placed on the counter, police said. The man then asked about another bottle located behind the counter. As the clerk turned away, the suspect allegedly grabbed the three bottles and fled the store, leaving the area in a vehicle.
Police said the investigation identified the suspect as Christopher Stamp, 36, of Paterson. A criminal arrest warrant has been issued charging him with third-degree shoplifting.
