Somerset County man charged with possessing and distributing child sexual abuse material

SOUTH BOUND BROOK BOROUGH, N.J. (Somerset County) — A South Bound Brook man has been arrested and charged with possessing and distributing child sexual abuse material following an investigation that began in Illinois and led to Somerset County, officials announced.

According to Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald, Chief of County Detectives Francisco Roman Jr., and South Bound Brook Police Chief Douglas LaGrua, Luis Stylianakis, 24, of South Bound Brook, was taken into custody on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, after detectives executed a search at his residence.

Authorities said the investigation began in April 2024, when the Huntley Police Department in Illinois launched a case involving a 14-year-old girl who had allegedly exchanged explicit photos via a social media platform with a man believed to live in South Bound Brook. In September 2025, Huntley police notified the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Computer Crimes Unit, which continued the investigation and identified Stylianakis as the individual allegedly communicating with the minor and possessing child sexual abuse materials.

During the arrest, detectives seized Stylianakis’ electronic devices for forensic analysis. He was charged with third-degree possession of child sexual abuse materials, third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, and third-degree distribution of obscene materials to a minor, prosecutors said.

Stylianakis was processed and lodged at the Somerset County Jail before being released after a court appearance.
