Morris County Courthouse, Administration Building to close temporarily Oct. 9 for security exercise

MORRISTOWN, N.J. — The Morris County Courthouse and the Morris County Administration Building will temporarily close to the public on Thursday, Oct. 9, for a planned security exercise, officials announced.

The courthouse will be closed from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., while the administration building will be closed from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The administration building will reopen at 1:30 p.m. for non-court county business.

Court staff will remain available by phone from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at (862) 397-5700. All matters will be heard virtually after 1:30 p.m., while emergent matters will be heard before 11 a.m. or virtually after 1:30 p.m.

During the closure, anyone seeking a temporary domestic violence restraining order between 10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. should make their application to the Morristown Police Department or their local police department.

Officials said the temporary closures are part of scheduled security training and are not related to any active threat.
