
Morris County man accused of possessing gun in dorm on Rider University campus
LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Mercer County) – A Morris County man is accused of possessing a gun in a dorm on Rider University campus in Lawrence Township.
On Sunday, March 30, at around 11:06 p.m., Lawrence Township Police Department received a report of an individual in possession of a firearm at Olson Dormitory on the campus of Rider University, located at 2083 Lawrence Road, police said.
Officers responded to the scene, where they met with Rider University Public Safety and began securing the area. Upon investigation, it was determined that the incident involved a confrontation between two people and was isolated in nature. The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Jordan Greene from Florham Park Borough, had fled the scene before police arrived, police said.
Based on a police investigation, Greene was ultimately criminally charged with trespassing, aggravated assault, and weapons offenses.
There were no injuries reported as a result of the incident, and authorities have confirmed that there was no ongoing threat to the campus or other students, police said.
The Lawrence Township Police Department continues to work closely with Rider University officials to ensure the safety of the campus community.
