Morris County man charged after assaulting juvenile with bottle

MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A Denville Township man was arrested after allegedly striking a juvenile in the head with a bottle during a dispute at a Budd Lake residence on Monday, according to Mount Olive police.

Police said Cpl. Inga responded to the home on Oct. 6 for a report of a domestic dispute. Upon arrival, officers located Jordy Vasquez, 18, of Denville, and a 15-year-old boy from Budd Lake who had been involved in the altercation.

An investigation determined that Vasquez was an unwanted guest in the residence. When the juvenile confronted him, Vasquez allegedly struck the teen on the side of the head with a bottle, causing a laceration, police said.

Vasquez was arrested and taken to police headquarters, where he was charged with endangering the welfare of children, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon and aggravated assault. He was later released pending a court appearance.

The juvenile was transported to Hackettstown Medical Center for treatment of his injury, police said.
