Morris County prosecutor’s office SART/FNE coordinator honored with advocacy award

MORRIS COUNTY, N.J. — A coordinator with the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office has been recognized for her work supporting survivors of sexual assault.

Alexis Rachel, the office’s Sexual Assault Response Team and Forensic Nurse Examiner coordinator, received the “Use Your Voice” award from the Morris County Sexual Assault Center. The honor was presented April 13 during the opening of the “Survivors Speak – Reclaiming Our Past, Rewriting Our Future” art exhibit at the Madison Community Arts Center.

Rachel is the first recipient of the award and has served in her role for nearly a decade, officials said. Her responsibilities include coordinating services for victims, recruiting and training forensic nurse examiners, managing on-call schedules and providing training to law enforcement and medical personnel.

The event featured artwork and performances by survivors and advocates, offering attendees an opportunity to engage with creative expressions centered on healing and awareness. The exhibit will remain on display through April 30.

Morris County Prosecutor Robert Carroll said, “Coordinator Rachel’s dedication to pursuing justice for sexual assault survivors and the empathy she brings to those facing such a traumatic experience is unmatched. Her professionalism is recognized by the community of survivors she serves, and I congratulate her on this well-earned award.”

Officials said the recognition comes during Sexual Assault Awareness Month and highlights ongoing efforts to support survivors and raise awareness in the community.
