Morris County sheriff’s chief graduates from FBI National Academy

MORRISTOWN, N.J. (Morris County) — A Morris County Sheriff’s Office chief has graduated from the FBI National Academy, completing a prestigious leadership and training program for law enforcement professionals.

Sheriff James M. Gannon announced that Chief Aaron D. Tomasini graduated from Session 297 of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

The 10-week program included 253 law enforcement officers from 48 states and the District of Columbia, along with 26 international officers representing 24 countries, as well as members of military and federal civilian organizations.

The academy is known for its advanced training in leadership, communication and physical fitness, with participants typically selected based on their experience and leadership within their agencies.

Sheriff Gannon said, “This is a remarkable accomplishment. As a graduate of the National Academy, I truly understand the hard work and dedication needed to complete this course of study. Chief Tomasini is an asset to the Morris County Sheriff’s Office and the people of Morris County. His high level of training and expertise has been enhanced by this accomplishment. I have no doubt it will translate to his leadership efforts and addressing any challenges ahead.”

Tomasini, who joined the sheriff’s office in 2005, has served in a variety of roles, including K-9 handler and trainer, bomb technician and tactical operator with the Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team. He has also supervised several units, including crime scene investigation, emergency services, patrol and marine police.

A military veteran, Tomasini served in Iraq and Afghanistan and currently holds the rank of major in the New Jersey Army National Guard.

He also holds multiple academic degrees, including advanced degrees in management, business administration and organizational leadership.

Chief Tomasini stated “I am deeply grateful to Sheriff Gannon and the Morris County Sheriff’s Office for the opportunity to attend the FBI National Academy. The Academy was an experience that broadened my leadership perspective and reaffirmed the critical importance of personal wellness. I truly value the lasting partnerships forged throughout this journey. These global connections offer a broadened perspective and shared insight that will directly benefit Morris County and the communities we proudly serve.”

Since its founding in 1935, the FBI National Academy has graduated more than 56,000 law enforcement professionals.
