Motorcyclist charged with DWI after crash in Mount Olive

MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A Budd Lake man was charged with driving while intoxicated after police responded to a motorcycle crash at an intersection in Mount Olive Township, authorities said.

Police responded at approximately 12:39 p.m. June 11 to the intersection of Sand Shore Road and Budd Lake Heights Road after receiving a disconnected 911 call originating from the area.

Upon arriving, officers located a crashed motorcycle in the intersection and identified the operator as Sameh A. Youniss, 35, of Budd Lake. Police said Youniss was found near the motorcycle and was not injured in the crash.

While speaking with Youniss, officers detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage and observed signs of impairment, according to police.

Youniss was asked to perform field sobriety tests and was subsequently arrested.

He was transported to police headquarters and charged with driving while intoxicated and reckless driving.

Police said Youniss was released to a sober driver pending a court hearing.
