Mount Olive named ‘Healthy Town to Watch’ in statewide wellness program
MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — Mount Olive Township has been designated a “Healthy Town to Watch” through the Mayor’s Wellness Campaign, a statewide initiative administered by the New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute.
Officials said the recognition marks the township’s first designation under the program and reflects its efforts to promote community health and wellness.
The designation followed a data-driven needs assessment that helped guide programming aimed at addressing key health concerns. Township officials said resident feedback played a central role in shaping initiatives designed to serve all age groups.
As part of those efforts, Mount Olive expanded its Mayor’s Wellness Walks by adding local vendors and interactive activities to encourage greater participation.
“This honor reflects our ongoing commitment to creating a community where residents can live active, healthy lives — from our parks and trails to our programs and partnerships,” said Mayor Joe Nicastro. “It’s a true team effort, and this recognition belongs to our entire community.”
The township also recognized Special Projects Coordinator Jenna Murphy for her role in helping secure the designation.
Officials said Mount Olive plans to continue building on the program by expanding health and wellness initiatives for residents.
