Mount Olive police issue 21 summonses during Goal Zero enforcement effort
MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — The Mount Olive Township Police Department participated in a statewide traffic safety initiative aimed at reducing roadway fatalities and crashes across New Jersey, officials said.
Mount Olive officers joined the Goal Zero initiative on March 10, conducting high-visibility traffic enforcement between 7 a.m. and 11 a.m.
During the enforcement period, officers conducted more than 121 motor vehicle stops, police said.
Authorities reported that one of the drivers stopped, Yasser Obando of Newark, was found to have multiple outstanding warrants totaling $7,750. Obando was arrested, processed and turned over to the Parsippany Police Department on one of the warrants after he was unable to post bail.
Police said the enforcement effort resulted in 21 summonses and 56 written warnings.
The Goal Zero campaign is a statewide traffic safety initiative focused on preventing roadway deaths, injuries and crashes through enforcement and public awareness.
Officials said Mount Olive police have now participated in the initiative five times as part of their ongoing efforts to improve roadway safety.
Police said the program reinforces the department’s message that safe roadways depend on cooperation between law enforcement and the public.
