National Weather Service confirms tornadoes touched down in PA, NJ
The National Weather Service (NWS) confirmed Tuesday that a tornado touched down in Northampton County, Pennsylvania and in Somerset County, New Jersey Monday afternoon.
The first tornado touched down at 2:48 p.m. in Martins Creek, Pa.
The EF0 tornado had peak winds of 65 mph and traveled 3.37 miles. It had a path width of 60 yards.
The tornado ended 1 mile WSW of Belvidere, Warren County.
NWS Survey found several wheat fields to the west of Martins Creek Belvidere Highway showing convergent damage patterns along a narrow path.
In the absence of additional damage indicators, NWS surveyors used wheat crop damage to confirm EF0 damage using the DI of small branches broken. To the west of the damage path, there were several additional fields showing damage that were more consistent with divergent straight line winds.
No injuries or fatalities were reported as a result of the tornado, according to the National Weather Service.
The second tornado touched down in Bernardsville, NJ.
