New Jersey Lottery Festival of Ballooning canceled again for 2025

READINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) – The New Jersey Lottery Festival of Ballooning has been canceled for 2025.

In 2023, the New Jersey Lottery Festival of Ballooning marked 40 years of bringing the magic of hot air ballooning to millions of its “balloonatic” friends.

Over the past four decades, the event has grown into the largest summertime hot air balloon and music festival in the country, becoming one of The Garden State’s most beloved family attractions.

Despite its success, the festival faces several ongoing challenges, including rising costs—particularly in booking concert talent, an area where smaller independent producers can no longer compete. Logistical difficulties and the unpredictable nature of weather also continue to pose obstacles.

“We have always strived to deliver the best experience possible to our fans and after much consideration and evaluation we have decided that it’s best to take another year to re-evaluate, rejuvenate and hopefully re-emerge bigger and better than ever. Therefore, we will not be presenting our three-day celebration in 2025,” according to Festival Executive Producer Howard Freeman.

“We want to reiterate our tremendous gratitude to the New Jersey Lottery, who not only signed as our new title sponsor just as COVID was taking hold in 2020, but whose support has been unwavering and continues to this day. Our goal is to preserve all the aspects of NJLFOB that have always made it so special, while continuing to support our local community and evolving to meet the future,” Freeman said.

The annual festival, which had been held at Solberg Airport in Readington Township, was also canceled in 2024.
