New Jersey ranks 6th best state for working from home, WalletHub finds
NEW JERSEY — New Jersey ranks as the sixth-best state in the nation for working from home, according to a new study released by personal-finance company WalletHub.
The report compares all 50 states and the District of Columbia across 12 metrics designed to measure how feasible remote work is in terms of cost, comfort and safety. Those factors include the share of residents working from home, internet affordability and access, cybersecurity and housing conditions.
New Jersey performed strongly across several categories, placing fourth in households’ internet access and eighth in internet cost. The state also ranked 10th in cybersecurity and 11th in the share of potential telecommuters.
However, it ranked 13th for the share of the population currently working from home, suggesting room for growth compared with other top-performing states.
WalletHub said the rise of hybrid and remote work has made location increasingly important for workers seeking to save money and maintain quality of life. States with reliable internet, affordable costs and adequate living space tend to offer the best environments for remote work.
