New look coming to the Lopatcong Twp. Police Department
LOPATCONG TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – Over the next few weeks, the Lopatcong Township Police Department will be testing a new uniform to replace the current style that has been in service for more than 30 years, according to police.
Currently, Chief Garcia, Sgt. Wayne and Sgt. LaFord are wearing the new uniform, and residents may see them around the township, police said.
The current uniforms are a French blue shirt, navy blue pants with a gold stripe. The new uniform is an all navy blue shirt and pants with a gold stripe, police said.
With the current uniform, officers carry their duty gear on their duty belt adding stress to their hips and back. The new uniform will have an outer vest carrier with some of the duty gear affixed to it, alleviating some of the stress on the officer’s hips and back, police said.
The new uniform will provide officers with some comfort and functionality while keeping the professional look that you have become accustomed to. The French blue uniform will still be in use but for formal events and functions, police said.
The transition to the new uniform will be ongoing for the next couple of months while it is rolled out to all officers, police said.
