No injuries reported after 2-alarm house fire in Morris County

ROCKAWAY TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — Firefighters responded to a house fire Wednesday afternoon on White Meadow Road in Rockaway Township that prompted a second-alarm response, according to the White Meadow Lake Fire Company.

At approximately 1:20 p.m., a patrol officer in the area reported heavy smoke and a possible house fire. At the same time, Rockaway Township Communications was receiving a 911 call reporting a fire at the residence.

The White Meadow Lake Fire Company and other units from the Rockaway Township Fire Department were dispatched to the scene.

According to the fire company, the first arriving officer confirmed heavy fire conditions at the rear of the home, leading officials to upgrade the incident to a second alarm.

Engine 51 arrived and deployed a handline to begin an aggressive fire attack. Truck 2 arrived shortly afterward and assisted with fire suppression operations.

No injuries were reported, and the homeowner was not home at the time of the fire, according to the fire company.

Additional information about the cause of the fire was not immediately available.
