Officers recognized for heroic actions during house fire in Hunterdon County
FLEMINGTON BOROUGH, NJ (Hunterdon County) – Flemington Borough Police Cpl. Dustin Kydd and Ptl. Michael Cristadoro were honored Tuesday by the Hunterdon County Commissioners for their heroic actions during a recent house fire in the borough.
On Saturday, February 8, police, fire, and EMS teams were dispatched to a residence on East Main Street following reports of a fire.
Ptl. Cristadoro was the first to arrive on the scene and acted swiftly, removing an elderly woman from the front porch as flames and smoke poured from the front windows.
After ensuring the woman’s safety, Cpl. Kydd and Ptl. Cristadoro, with complete disregard for their own well-being, entered the back of the multi-family residence. They successfully evacuated a family of five who had not yet realized the danger of the fire.
“The actions taken that day by Cpl. Kydd and Ptl. Cristadoro exemplify the mission of the Flemington Borough Police Department,” a post on the department’s Facebook page read.
